Reason No. 6: Improved Time Management

West Lake Street and Highway 55, Stockbridge, Wisconsin

If you've read my post Study Proves That Blogging Brings More Business Than Traditional Websites then you already know that blogs are the genesis for authentic, meaningful communication between businesses and their current and potential customers -- and that in a study of more than 1500 companies, blogs brought in 55% more visitors than traditional websites.

In short, you need to post, and you need to post regularly. And it can be overwhelming to keep up with adding meaningful / inspiring / important content to your blog website.

Back to Reason No. 6 as to why blog websites are better than traditional websites -- improved time management.

With a blog website you can add content at your convenience, and then schedule the day and time you want the post(s) to publish.

For example:
-- A restaurant owner could schedule daily, weekly, or weekend specials.

-- A health and wellness center could announce workshops and classes with Save the Date! and then Reminder notices.

-- An instructor could schedule weekly assignments through the end of the semester.

-- A wellness coach could spent a Sunday writing a dozen articles and have them publish over the ensuing several weeks.
The scheduling feature in Blogger is easy to use -- just four clicks and you're done!

You can't do that with a traditional website!

Learning how to write, publish and schedule posts is part of the two-hour, one-on-one training I provide once your blog website is ready; the training is included in my reasonable set-up fee.

Reason No. 5: Blog websites have greater accessibility

I wonder if social media was used to promote this fundraiser?

Do you travel for your business? Are you a night owl, or an early bird? If you've got Internet access and a browser, you can make changes or add content to your blog website from any computer in the world, at any time of the day or night.

Blog websites have greater accessibility. There's no waiting for a website designer to get back to you when he/she is available. Blog websites accommodate your busy schedule; you're 100% in control. You can't say that about traditional websites!

Blog websites are perfect for small business owners, local non-profits, and individuals, and are a cost-effective alternative to expensive traditional websites.

For a reasonable fee I can help you set up your blog website, connect you with social media like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and teach you how to make changes or add content.

Reason No. 4: Blog websites are social media marketing friendly

Olden days marketing -- local, succinct, colorful, and neon

If you're a small business owner or local non-profit, one of the most effective and economical ways to reach out to your community is by establishing a blog website (see Reasons No. 1-3). Once you start blogging, it's easy to disseminate your posts through social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+.

Blogger is my preferred blog website platform. At the bottom of every post is a series of little buttons (see the bottom of this post). Once I publish a post, I can click on the icon for the social media outlet(s) of my choice, and, voilĂ ! I've connected with my community. Blogger interfaces automatically with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+ so don't have to go to each account, log in, and send out a message that I've just posted something on my blog website. You can't do that with a traditional website!

Not sure about the importance of social media marketing and the role it plays in today's business world? Here are some quick facts gleaned from the 2012 Social Media Marketing Report:
  • 54% of small business owners strongly agree that social media is important for their business
  • 56% of people using social media 6-10 hours per week were able to grow their business partnerships
  • 85% of all businesses that have developed a social media marketing strategy have reported increased exposure for their businesses
  • 57% of small business owners using social media reported a reduction in their marketing costs
  • 65% of businesses using social media for at least one year found it helped in acquiring a loyal fan base
  • 43% of people aged 20-29 and 35% of people aged 30-39 spend more than 11 hours each week using social media
  • Since 2011, the top social media tools have remained the same: Facebook (92%), Twitter (82%), LinkedIn (73%), and YouTube (57%)

If you're a small business owner or a local non-profit, I'm fairly confident you don't have an in-house marketing department to help you develop and maintain your marketing platform.

For a reasonable fee, I can help you set up your blog website and all your social media accounts, and teach you how to use them effectively.

Reason No. 3: Learning to use Blogger is a breeze!

If you can use MS Word, you can learn to publish new posts, edit content, add photos, and build your blog website. In fact, I've been using Blogger for five years and everything I know I've taught myself through trial and error.

Perfecting Blogger on your own could take several days, or even longer. But with the two hours of one-on-one, hands-on training included with setting up your blog website, you're immediately in control -- even if you have no design or programming experience.

Don't be discouraged by the complicated traditional-website-speak you've heard from your designer. A blog website is a completely different animal that can be gently mastered with standard English vocabulary and the same logic as using MS Word.

I've got 15 years of teaching experience, five years of blogging experience, and I've been using computers since 1979. My goal is to help people become independent of their expensive traditional websites and the designers who control them. A blog website is free, the sky's the limit and you're 100% in control of reaching your goals!

Reason No. 2: Blog websites have search engine magnetism

There's an intimate, symbiotic relationship that exists between blog websites, your current and potential customers, and the internet search engines (i.e., Google, Yahoo and Bing). The search engines companies want to make money, you want to make money, and your current and potential customers want to spend money. It's a good relationship!

Have you ever wondered how the search engine companies make so much money? According to Google's succinctly written annual report: "We generate revenue primarily by delivering relevant, cost-effective online advertising."

The advertising targets your current and potential customers, who are relying on a search engine to find you! And whether or not they find you is based upon where you show up in the search engine results.

This may seem elementary -- but then why are so many expensive, traditional websites still buried deeply in search engine results pages? I'm not an expert on html, but I can tell you some key advantages blog websites have over traditional websites in garnering those coveted top search result positions.
  1. With a blog website, the more you post the more you attract the interests of the search engines. Each post sends a "ping" to the search engines, letting them know you've added something new. Traditional websites can't "ping". And since you can't post regularly on traditional websites, they become static in the website-search engine relationship.
  2. With a blog website, you can add "labels" to each post that help the search engines identify your website's content. Search engine "robots" will search your blog website every day looking for changes they can index. Again, not an option for traditional websites.
  3. With a blog website, guests can comment on the post and/or "like" it on a variety of social media forums like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. The more your guests interact with your blog website and connect with other forms of social media, the more the search engine robots have to index.
So with regular posting and labels and pinging and guest interaction (Oh, my!!), you'll enter meaningfully into that wonderful symbiotic relationship with the search engines, your current and potential customers, and your blog website.

One of my specialties is helping my customers feel comfortable and confident with publishing, labeling and disseminating their blog website posts.

Reason No. 1: Blog websites save money

One of the primary complaints I hear from my clients is their frustration with the amount of money they've spent on their traditional website, only to have a website they're not happy with and/or a designer they can't timely get a hold of to made changes / upgrades. As I began to learn just how much a traditional website costs, I became even more determined to spread the good news about blog websites.

Reason No. 1 in my series on why blog websites are better than traditional websites is that blog websites save money.

A blog website is free to set up. I'm a fan of Blogspot. To set up a Blogspot blog website, all you need is a gmail account and the name of your blog website. Once gmail and the website are established, you can literally publish your first post in as long as it takes you to write it.

A blog website is free to maintain. There are no monthly fees for a blog website.

You can manage your own content. With a blog website, you control the edits, and you control when and how much and how often to post -- saving the money that would have previously been handed over to your designer.

In addition, you can edit and post as it fits into your schedule, thereby avoiding the frustration of trying to track down your designer to arrange a mutually-convenient time to discuss the content changes -- saving you time and energy to devote to building and maintaining your business.

One of my specialties is converting traditional websites into Blogspot blog websites. Contact me today, and let's get started on saving you money!

Study Proves That Blogging Brings More Business Than Websites

Kewaunee, Kewaunee County, Wisconsin

There's a definition of insanity attributed to Albert Einstein: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

And then there's the definition he might have given were he familiar with the web-based world of today: paying month after month and year after year for a static website and an unavailable designer when a blog website is 100% free, 100% in your control, and substantially more effective in bringing in business.

In a study of more than 1500 companies, it was determined that blogs brought in 55% more visitors than static websites, and a staggering 97% more inbound links were found for businesses that blogged - a compelling argument in favor of blog websites.

Blogs are the genesis for authentic, meaningful communication between businesses and their current and potential customers.

I can help you set up a blog from scratch. I can help you set up a blog to augment your existing website. I can help you convert your static website to a blog.

Blogsites vs. websites

Blogs are some of the most popular sites on the Internet. Blogs are created for personal reasons, educational and informational reasons, business and corporate reasons, or for a plethora of other uses and purposes – when it comes to blogsites, whatever is needed, the sky’s the limit!

For the small business owner, a blogsite is an affordable, effective, powerful alternative to the “static” website. Already have a website? A blogsite is a valuable augmentation.

A blog IS a website – in fact, a blog is a DYNAMIC website, meaning that blog content changes frequently so there is more authentic interaction between your business and your current and potential customers. A blog is free to set up, free to maintain, and easy to build as your business and customer needs grow.

Set-up fees start at $250 per blogsite. This fee includes two hours of instruction on how post (e.g., comments, photos, links), how to enhance the layout, how to add “followers”, and how to see who’s viewing the blogsite content. Follow-up services, including “ghost blogging”, are available at $25 per hour.
