Reason No. 2: Blog websites have search engine magnetism

There's an intimate, symbiotic relationship that exists between blog websites, your current and potential customers, and the internet search engines (i.e., Google, Yahoo and Bing). The search engines companies want to make money, you want to make money, and your current and potential customers want to spend money. It's a good relationship!

Have you ever wondered how the search engine companies make so much money? According to Google's succinctly written annual report: "We generate revenue primarily by delivering relevant, cost-effective online advertising."

The advertising targets your current and potential customers, who are relying on a search engine to find you! And whether or not they find you is based upon where you show up in the search engine results.

This may seem elementary -- but then why are so many expensive, traditional websites still buried deeply in search engine results pages? I'm not an expert on html, but I can tell you some key advantages blog websites have over traditional websites in garnering those coveted top search result positions.
  1. With a blog website, the more you post the more you attract the interests of the search engines. Each post sends a "ping" to the search engines, letting them know you've added something new. Traditional websites can't "ping". And since you can't post regularly on traditional websites, they become static in the website-search engine relationship.
  2. With a blog website, you can add "labels" to each post that help the search engines identify your website's content. Search engine "robots" will search your blog website every day looking for changes they can index. Again, not an option for traditional websites.
  3. With a blog website, guests can comment on the post and/or "like" it on a variety of social media forums like Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. The more your guests interact with your blog website and connect with other forms of social media, the more the search engine robots have to index.
So with regular posting and labels and pinging and guest interaction (Oh, my!!), you'll enter meaningfully into that wonderful symbiotic relationship with the search engines, your current and potential customers, and your blog website.

One of my specialties is helping my customers feel comfortable and confident with publishing, labeling and disseminating their blog website posts.
